Xbox360 Will Support HD-DVD Drive

Xbox-360-hd-dvd-drive

Bill Gates has recently stated that the Xbox 360 will support HD-DVD drives and with the new alliance with Toshiba it will most likely be a Toshiba drive.

Considering that such a decision would postpone the launching date, Microsoft will equip the initial models with classic DVD drives, and only after the new HD-DVD are ready, the Xbox will incorporate them.

This shouldn’t be that big of a shock because in previous interviews Gates said that they were not ruling out adding a HD-DVD drive to the Xbox 360 later on. This is good news that you can upgrade to a HD-DVD drive and it certainly puts even more heat on Sony. Now if Toshiba and Sony could only get their act together and agree on a standard we would be all set.

I think the Xbox 360 is looking better and better all of the time – I can’t wait for some real reviews to come in once they get into people’s hands. Is anyone actually considering the Playstation 3 over the Xbox 360?
